The importance of sexuality in individuation By Dale Emmet I had the awesome opportunity to experience Chelsea and her teachings live at a "Sexuality in Spiritual Direction" session at a retreat recently. There and in this book, Chelsea has such an interesting, integrating and easy to digest way of discussing the complex mystery of sex. By healing old wounds and scripts from family and society and understanding the sexual archetypes within us, women can access their own authentic sexual essence; develop a more comfortable connection to our own bodies; and bring forth the life force energy of eros. This embodiment of our instinctual self is vital to our mind-body-spirit balance and Chelsea is an important voice reminding us and educating us on the fact that sexuality is an important part of our individuation process. A highly recommend In Search of Aphrodite and Chelsea's Luminous Woman program.

Had this book been given to me then in my therapy sessions, I would have had a valuable resource with which to intellectually understand an ecstatic experience. Spirit wants us to know joy and pleasure, yet we aren't taught this by our mothers, by our religion or by our culture. Chelsea explains why this is, what good can come from the ecstatic experience, and how Eros evolves us. Eros is Spirit and God moving through us, softening the edges of the ego, helping us to know somatically the world as One. I value this thoroughly researched and compassionate overview of the Mystic's journey.

I love this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring the state of female sexuality today. Chelsea Wakefield offers compelling insights throughout the book that can benefit any woman or practitioner working in the realm of women's issues. Wakefield's words and lessons are sure to be enlightening and eye-opening.

Two best friends open a bookstore/coffee shop called, “Death by Coffee”. The owners; Vicki Patterson and Krissy Hancock also allowed book clubs to use their upstairs area to meet. One group that seems to be run by Rita Jablonski; the resident gossip and loudmouth, has a competition with the neighboring town on a book written by Krissy’s father; James Hancock. Rita has a thing for Krissy’s father and brings a life-sized cardboard cutout of him to a meeting. Krissy finds this kind of creepy but more concerning is the fact that no one else does.When a book reader with a British accent and hot body is found dead in the coffee shop after a meeting, Krissy has to get involved.Who killed David Smith with a teapot? Fast paced, nice read. See if you figure it out before the end.

Hisses from Princess Fuzzypants By Fuzzy's Mom Princess Fuzzypants here:Even though I normally review books where cats or other animals have a pivotal role in solving the crime, I am still going to review this one because someone has to defend the honour of poor Misfit, Krissy's cat.When someone is murdered in her business, Death By Coffee, Krissy becomes a prime suspect. Her problem, unlike a cat, is she tries to avoid confronting issues.If she did not want the giant cardboard cut-out of her father in th e window, she should have just told Rita to take it back home. But no, she skulks back to the store, steals the silly thing and carries it home. Of course, her nosiy neighbour who practically stalks her witnesses the entire thing and tells the police that Krissy is guilty when the body is discovered.Even her friends on the police force are fed up with her antics and she does not get the hunky shoulder to cry on that she did in the last book. Oh, there are lots of twists and turns and surprises to be had, and a smattering of eligible attractive men too. Yes, she does figure out who killed the victim but almost gets herself killed again.It's poor Misfit who has my sympathy. She calls him a demon and says all sorts of nasty things about him when he is just doing cat-like things, such as revenge. He didn't leap to her rescue when the murderer was trying to kill her. Why would he? After all the digs, he ignored her.I definitely think she should apologize to Misfit. Although, I doubt she will. Even with her anti-feline bias, I will still recommend the book.

By Lisa Ks Book Reviews The second book in the Bookstore Café mystery series was a good read.Author Alex Erickson has created a wonderful setting for his series. I’ve wanted to own a bookstore café for a very long time. So the scenes in the store were fun for me as I pictured the shop in my mind, imaging spending my days there.This was a well written mystery with a plot that kept me guessing. Also, it had good reveal that was nicely thought out.There were some good characters in DEATH BY TEA, but I have to be honest…I do not care for series protagonist, Krissy Hancock. I find her to be juvenile and whiney. I don’t expect all female leads to be super women, but I do want to find them likeable. As this series goes forward, I hope to see some growth in Krissy.I like this series okay, but I want to love it. My 4 star rating is on Mr. Erickson’s ability as an author. Not for the overall piece.There is an excerpt in the back of the book for the third book in this series, DEATH BY PUMPKIN SPICE.

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. needs to be pulled and rewritten By Jadana Okay, so here you are, a prisoner, and someone offers to help you escape, and what is your response; no its okay, I will wait to be rescued because someone else has already offered to help.Talk about stupid! The books in this series may not be the best books ever written, but they are at least entertaining and fun to read - this one missed the mark completely. I do not recommend this book, the story line just does not work - instead of Merrick coming across as an experienced soldier and leader, he comes across as a fool, and Addie, who began the story with a strong friendship with one of her school mates, never once goes to get help, instead she listens to this fool and agrees to wait for rescue to come.

Another great story by S E Smith By My Romance Addiction Oh how much I like to read a story where the leading man is not afraid to go after the woman he has set his sights on. Yes its a tad barbaric but there's something about a self confident man that just appeals to the woman in me. It doesn't matter whether he is a gallant fellow from the 17th Century (think Mr Darcy), a rough cowboy from the outback (Hugh Jackman) or a sexy futuristic hero from the future...as long as he is strong, self assured and not overly arrogant then I am more than happy.Merrick Ta'Duran is the powerful leader of a society of people who live in the mountains on the world of Baade. When word comes that a new species has been discovered, Merrick travels to Earth in the hope of meeting his mate. Unfortunately he is captured and detained by a group of scientists. After months of tests and experiments Merrick fears his life will end before he had the opportunity to hold his mate in his arms.Addie Banks lost her hearing during her teenage years when she contracted a virus. Determined to stand on her own two feet, Addie gains part time employment cleaning offices at Keiser Institute. During one of her late night shifts, she comes face to face with a large man held behind bars in a secure area of the building. I wish this new, down-to-earth book on divorce and loss was available to me when I started my clinical practice. Practical, nuanced, generously inclusive of the viewpoints of other authors, chockfull of illuminating clinical anecdotes, this book will be extremely helpful to all clinicians who work with people affected by divorce -which is to say, practically all of us.Dr. Ehrlich poses a crucial and fascinating question: why do some people do well after divorce, reconstituting and moving on and growing, while others seem to stay injured, or even embittered?Essentially two books in one, the first half of the book studies the impact of divorce, including the crucial role of painful affects - sorrow, anger, hurt, guilt, aloneness. Dr. Ehrlich focuses on the mourning process. I found that much is clinically relevant here not only for divorce but for other losses in life.The second half of the book spotlights interventions. How can the sensitive therapist facilitate the mourning process in adults, constructively dealing with the immensely painful affects? How can children of divorce, at any age, be helped with their often invisible emotions? Ehrlich includes the importance of working with parents, whenever possible, to help them help their children. By thoffmd I picked up this volume because I was struggling to help a series of patients, all men in individual therapy, manage the emotional storm of marital breakups. The cohort included one who I came to quickly understand from my reading suffered all the sequelae of a "high conflict" divorce. I saw immediate results from looking at their situation with them through the lens of mourning, as prescribed by Dr. Ehrlich's thesis.In this informative monograph, Dr. Ehrlich manages to be at once comprehensive and concise. This is no small feat for a pervasive issue that elicits the wide range of emotions and responses from parties to a divorce and those affected by its outcome, including therapists. Dr. Ehrlich imparts conceptual frameworks, clinical pearls, and practical lessons from the literature and from his own experience. Franz Brentano is one of the founding fathers of twentieth century philosophy, celebrated for introducing the concept of intentionality to philosophy as well as making significant contributions to ethics and logic. His work exerted great influence on major philosophers such as Edmund Husserl, but also philosophers travelling in the opposite direction, such Gottlob Frege. He counted Sigmund Freud amongst his students and Freud expressed great admiration for his teacher in several letters.

Psychology from an Empirical Standpoint is Brentano’s most important and brilliant work. It helped to establish psychology as a scientific discipline, but did so in a highly original and distinctive manner by arguing for a form of introspectionism. Brentano argued that consciousness is always unified and that the hallmark of the mind is that one’s thoughts are always directed towards something – his famous theory of ‘intentionality’ – arguments that have deep implications not just for philosophy but psychology, cognitive science and consciousness studies.

If you want to get smart in phenomenology, starts from this book By clyntonr If you want to see the beginning of the phenomenological movement you should read this book. In this book is where Brentano re takes the concept of intentional content of the consciousness, that Aristotle, and scholastics used before, and in a way prepare the way to Husserl for his logical investigations (specially Investigation 5 - 6).

BRENTANO: TRUE FATHER OF PHENOMENOLOGY: By barryb BRENTANO: TRUE FATHER OF PHENOMENOLOGY:For post-modern thought, we would situate Franz Brentano between David Hume’s empiricism and Edmund Husserl’s phenomenology. With what he labeled “Empirical-Psychology”. The concept of phenomenology had not emerged yet, but basically empirical-psychology equals “phenomenology”. Husserl, in an act of true recognition, stated that his thought directly evolved out of the work of Brentano. That’s a powerful recommendation.In essence, rather than taking Hegel as the supplier of the psychological-structure for post-modern thought; we should give that honor to Brentano. Hegel contributes to it later.Brentano’s work was criticized for being inaccessible and abstract, but we have the luxury of years of additional dialogue. For any serious student of post-modern thought, this manuscript should be quite accessible. I thought it read “smoothly”; actually easier to assimilate than I had imagined.The huge benefit from Brentano will be the steps he articulates leading up to the copying of the thought-picture to the cognitive-consciousness. He inserts Aristotle’s dokounta-threshold as a mediation prior to copying which is important, and neglected by almost all other post-modern writers (except Beaufret).Brentano also includes the moment of “counter-blow”, or the fringe contribution of previous cognitive work, used as a filter when considering sensory phenomena. He says this is the “static-body-state” as applied in an imaginative way to sensation in order to create the first feeling-percept phenomena.From there we pass through the recollective act of considering prior thought-representations of the logic-of-causality, in order to move on to forming a preliminary thought-picture. This is when we form “mental-phenomena” from “physical-phenomena” by addressing the “intentional” content of objectivity in its “presentation”.From here, we take the important step of approaching the dokounta-threshold and engaging in the work of “partitioning” categories and “measuring” the intensive-magnitude of phenomena. The thought-picture evolves to deeper significance. Then it is copied to cognitive-consciousness.The overall triad is simply: sensation; imagination; and cognition. And the overall methodology is simply: “induction of unconsciousness”; “deduction of cognitive work”; and “verification of posited result".Easily "5" stars; and highly recommended; remember Husserl's recommendation.

However, the older I get, I am tending to read more and more nonfiction.As someone who eats clean and works out/ lifts weights almost daily, this was an interesting read. I am always looking for ways to improve............not necessarily ways to diet, but ways to be healthier. And Your Body is a great book for that. I know a lot, and it still taught me things I didn't know.If you are into health and fitness, nonfiction, and/or just taking care of your body...........this book is definitely for you!
