In My Child Is Angry…And So Am I, psychologist David R. He then offers simple, kid-friendly exercises—specific to common, everyday problems—that parents, teachers, and therapists can use to help children understand how to express anger in healthy, positive ways.
Additionally, the final chapter, written specifically for mental health professionals and educators, offers therapeutic procedures and techniques for conducting anger management groups.
Grounded in cognitive-behavior psychology and enhanced with spiritual wisdom, this easy-to-use book illustrates practical ways to channel anger into constructive action no matter what challenges you or your child face.

By levin Finally something useful for the measurement of progress by patients and families via self assessments and the therapists clinical assessment of the childhood anger management systems. Although the appeal at first glance may not be to the,"psychodynamically" oriented, upon further inspection, much of Freud's work came from religious works redacted into psychodynamic nosology. Nevertheless, the way of working through ofanger issues are of a cognitive behavioral base which is derived from psychodynamic theory. Dr. Aaron Beck M.D. had training in psychodynamic- psychoanalytic theory and technique. Moreover, Drs. David D. Burns, Albert Ellis , Viktor Frankl M.D.s were all Psychoanalysis as well.Eric M. Levin M.D.Board Certified Psychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience.

As a practicing psychologist, I appreciated the balance of the science and the practical; the content and the anecdote. Too many books for the lay reader are "skyscraper books"--one story on top of another. Leaman's illustrations are succinct and to the point, and often personal. The book also summarized the literature well and introduced me to new practical research and management approaches for anger. The book would be a good resource for church groups or self-help groups who are interested in learning better ways of responding to their anger--both with respect to child-parent relations and anger in one's personal life. There are many helpful discussion guides for such purposes.
