I know that I thoroughly enjoy any story that revolves around police investigations but “Stop At Nothing” drew me in right from the beginning and really had me putting my own police skills through the ringer figuring everything out. And, just when I thought I knew and understood what was going to happen, I didn’t.Kyle and Abby were explosive. Kyle and his father were volatile. But, they all had the same results in mind. Find the person or persons responsible for kidnapping Abby’s sister and terrorizing her family. Kyle had his gut instincts as to who and why and knew, deep down, that this was also connected with his investigation in New Orleans. Now, to prove everything with the help of Abby … and to prove to Abby that what they had three years ago was the real thing.Abby had no idea that taking on this job was going to the terrorizing of her family. After decoding the messages she was paid to hack into, finding out exactly who her brother-in-law really was and having to protect her nephew, the last thing that she expected was Kyle rushing back into her life. Being in his arms again was exactly what she needed and what she was trying to avoid. There is no way he will forgive her for lying to him and for what she kept from him all those years ago. But, she needed him right now. Needed him to help her, needed him to understand, she just … needed him. There was no way that she would be able to keep the love from shining through her eyes or keep him out of her bed. And, as this story was unfolding, I became more and more intrigued. Now, we all know that the hero and heroine with eventually end up together but Kate Serine had me seriously wondering just who was going to end up dead, who was going to come out of this unscathed. Were Kyle and his father going to have the ultimate blow-out? Was he going to make amends with all of his brothers? How was he going to face the ultimate betrayal? These and many other questions went through my mind as I was reading and I was really interested to see how everything was going to play out. She did a wonderful job of keeping me on the edge of my seat by keeping the story fresh and alive …. keeping the story moving forward. The flashbacks to the time they were together before Kyle left for the FBI, were poignant and lent credence to the present time and situations. I found her writing and storytelling skills fresh and exciting. She was able to mix the fun with the serious and the emotions of both Kyle and Abby were brilliantly written so that we exactly knew what both of them were thinking and feeling throughout the story.Complicated and complex characters, writing that keeps you engaged in the plot and a story that leaves wanting more are all signs of a wonderful book and an author who cares about her readers. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in this series.Review copy provided for an honest review.

Suddenly, due to just the right mix of circumstance, they are unexpectedly brought back together - to each other and to danger. Abby's forensic investigations and Kyle's work with the FBI on the surface look like a good mix...but maybe not so much professionally. The personal hurt and heart break is still simmering between them, along with some unanswered questions about their abrupt break off. One neither of them has ever really recovered from. As they work together to fight evil and save the innocent, the personal and professional lines blur...and just as things start to become clearer they might not have a future after all...Kyle and Abby are strong main characters. There were parts about them I liked and parts I didn't particularly care for at different times in the story. This made them very real for me. Both of them grew on me, Kate's writing made me feel for them, for their past and present, gave me hope for them, and as their characters developed I liked them more and more. The possible second chance they find themselves faced with was a tumultuous journey, made even more difficult due to the circumstances that brought them back together. The suspenseful part of the plot is fast moving, creepy at times, and kept me guessing! I liked how Kate did this and kept the story moving along at a good pace so I was never bored, just wondered what would happen next!I also enjoyed the secondary plots in Stop at Nothing and the secondary characters that came with them. The family dynamics that make up a lot of who Kyle is were an interesting mix to the plot, and worked well with it and his character. I liked watching these relationships grow and change.Moving on from a past that is almost as haunting as the present time but in completely different ways, Stop at Nothing is intense and suspenseful, filled with tension, conflict, heat and heart. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any romantic suspense reader.I received a free copy for an honest review.

I had troubles agreeing with her reasons for breaking up with the hero, fact that she explains with her familial past. It must be said that I always have trouble with characters who decide what is better for the other without speaking with him/her. So I really understood when Kyle took it badly, and I even thought he forgave her too fast. The couple in itself works well, but there’s not really any evolution in their feelings: they meet again, they realize they always love the other, and they quickly fall in each other’s arms even if Abby reveals her secret late in the story. However the love scenes are well written and numerous.I really liked Kyle. I thought he was decent, sincere with Abby, and I liked to see his relation with his family. He’s been on bad terms with his father and one of his brothers for a long time and the reason is very plausible, them having wanted to protect the youngest without seeing he was suffering from the false conclusions he drew from their behavior. Without big demonstration, each takes a step toward the other at the end of the novel, and I liked this sobriety even if inside I was thinking “pfft, guys, unable to communicate!” lol.On the suspense side, I found that the plot was well thought, intriguing with its red hearing, even if quite soft in the end However my big problem is that I didn’t understand one of the secondary characters. His actions, which affect a good part of the story, are not quite believable and seem to be an easy way to keep the plot moving. To conclude, I wasn’t completely convinced by this novel, even if it has numerous positive points. However I’m intrigued by the hero’s brothers and I like the author’s style, so I’ll be there for the next volume.
